Process

Having taken the time to read and analyze each of these books throughout the semester, I started this process by doing some extended research. I had a focus on setting for my project so I searched for articles that went in depth into the settings of each of these novels as well as detective fiction and fiction in general.

After I felt I had a good handle on what I wanted to portray I started thumbnailing. I sketched in sets of three as I wanted these to be a cohesive collection of different authors and sub-genres of detective fiction to give the reader a similar experience to what we did in class.

After this I began digitizing a few of those ideas. Using The Big Sleep, I created two differently styled books covers. I decided that the image-based cover style would be the best route to go in order to accurately display the contents of each book.
